New Blog for Invisible Disabilities

Hi, I'm Heather and I've recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I'd like to discuss here some of the disabilities that most people don't realize are disabilities, diseases ranging from mental illness to ms to fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Most people would look at me and say there is nothing wrong with me. I've even said that all the while my body feels like I have run a 10K when all I've done is walked from my car to my second floor apartment. I don't have this happen everyday, but lately it has gotten worse. Perhaps it is the stress of being a single mom of a toddler that has called my fibromyalgia to flare up or perhaps it is the stress of an impending divorce. Tomorrow, there is music at the local coffee house for children and I'm hoping I can take my son as he loves it! God Willing, I will be able to... and perhaps just may force myself.

I am on Elavil 50 mgs and Mobic - neither of which are working very well. I don't take the Elavil unless I'm spending the night with family since I have a toddler. I'd like to try to manage my fibromyalgia without the use of heavy pain meds because they knock me out... can't be an effective mom when you are knocked out. I've got some heating pads that help with pain and would love to have one of those vests you put in the microwave... a whole suit would be best but I'll settle for the vest.

I can't work - I would LOVE to, but it is impossible to do so right now. I have more than half of my week where I am in pain and severely fatigued. I am going to have to bite the bullet and file for disability and I hate to do that.

Well, I'm going to try to sleep now - something I have trouble doing anyhow.

Blessings to you all!

  1. Heather honey I sure do feel for ya! If I could, I would take your pain away. Maybe a little yoga might help some days. Try that ok?

    Abundant Blessings!
